Here we are!

Here we are!

We finally have internet connection! Our first update from Taiwan. When we stepped out of the airport, the humidity hit us in the face with full force and we walked right back into the airport. But.. we’ve adjusted. The weather hasn’t been as hot as we’d expected it to be, but very humid nonetheless.

Sister Deborah met us at the airport at 6am (I think she’d been waiting there since 5:30am) and outfitted us with sim cards for our phones and money in Taiwanese currency which she’d exchanged for us. I felt like James Bond meeting up with Q.

We met up with Sister Grace and Tim in Tainan, and she treated us to an an awesome lunch and an afternoon of sightseeing. We got into Far East University in the evening, and had a delicious breakfast.. it came out to about $1 USD per person. Johnathan wants to stay here permanently.

Here are some pictures:

Waiting for our flight

We passed the time with Kindles… not for reading, apparently, but for games.

Checking the menu

Here’s the kids checking out the menus for their inflight meals…

Wrong Way

Walking down the concourse in Taiwan. Some of us like to go backwards.

Magical Glowing Green Bus

We decided to go green and take a bus.

Crossing the Sea

We figured we’d go even greener and pedal the boat ourselves.

Morning Glory

Here we are, at Far Eastern University. Morning reading – Philippians 1:1-18.

Big Bible

Small Bible

Big Bible, small Bible – God’s word all the same!

Tonight, we’ll be meeting the rest of the team from US for prayer time and to go over logistics for the next four days. Please continue praying for us!

3, 2, 1… Blast off!

3, 2, 1… Blast off!

OK, so we’re not going on a rocket ship, but in about 12 hours, we’ll be getting ready to board (and hoping the airline will let us take our guitars as carry-on).

Nervous? Not yet. We’re been so busy with preparing for the Greater Things Conference which had just ended up July 4th, and we’ve spent the past week getting ready for the Taiwan trip.. we haven’t really had time to sit down and think about what we’ll be doing. When we get on the plane, I hope to sleep, sleep, sleep, and hit the ground running when we get off the plane. So I suppose we can worry and get nervous in August when we get back.

I’m praying for the team, that we’ll each be challenged by God and by our circumstances and come back a more mature believer and follower of Christ. I pray that we’ll learn not to focus so much on ourselves, and learn to care for others first. And I pray that the music we bring will be used by God to minister to each ear we reach.

To the night markets we go!!
